About MoI&P:
In October 2004, the Prime Minister of Pakistan directed the establishment of an implementing institution to achieve the goals of technology upgradation and skill development in the country’s key industrial sectors.
This directive led to the creation of the Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) in 2005 under the Ministry of Industries and Production, Government of Pakistan.
Since its inception, TUSDEC has successfully carried out various projects in sectors such as Light Engineering, Cement, Textile, Ceramics, and Skills Development with support from the Government of Pakistan.
As well as national and international donors. These projects have been implemented across Pakistan to enhance technology and skills in different industries.
TUSDEC has set up centers equipped with the latest equipment, functioning as Common Facility Centers. These centers support local industries by offering modern design, manufacturing, testing, training, and consultancy services.
TUSDEC was established in 2005 as a nonprofit, guarantee-limited company under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984. It is wholly owned by the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd. (PIDC).:
- Establish and promote Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Centers, providing common facilities, design, support and maintenance, testing, certification, incubation, applied research, and dissemination services.
- Upgrade and transfer technology in targeted industrial sectors to enhance their productivity and competitiveness locally and globally.
- Provide advice on technology policy, benchmarks, standards, and regulations, while conducting sector-specific technology mapping.
- Encourage and promote innovation, creativity, and competitiveness.
- Create an enabling environment for the growth and support of entrepreneurship.
- Identify the critical areas of skill development based on the socio-economic context of specific geographical areas or industrial requirements.
